I started getting this android is starting....optimizing apps 1 of 1. after reading this thread, i found the problem to be zedge. i've used this app for about 6 years, then a recent forced update started causing the error, making my phone take about 15 minutes to boot. i uninstalled zedge and got rid of the problem.. Obviously, mine is due to the android system. my tab is running lollipop 5.1.1 and i can no longer update this system. this problem eats between 2 and 5% of the battery at start-up and there is no way for me to "uninstall" this like an app.. This is most likely your problem. trying uninstalling that app and restart. found this on another forum and it was myfitnesspal that was causing the issue and it was listed as using 100% battery in the battery list after the tablet finally booted from optimizing app 1 of 1..
